You will be sent a letter detailing the terms of your employment benefit. You should get a letter either way, whether you have or have not been approved.

If you do not get a letter detailing whether you have been approved, your unemployment may not have been approved yet. There are a few departments that this has to go through and this may take up to a month. If you have not heard anything within a month after you applied, give them a call. When you applied, you will have been given a number to call to tell them that you have started work or use to follow up your application. Give that number a call; you will be able to ask if you have been approved.

If you have no joy with a letter and don't have a number to call, you can always go and visit your local council office or town hall. This should be where your application for unemployment will be getting processed so they should be able to help. You will have to find the correct department, the best thing to do is to go to the front desk.

They should be able to tell you where you need to go. For most town halls and council offices, you don't need an appointment, but because of this, you may have to sit and wait in turn. You will have to take some identification with you when you go to talk to anyone about personal financial issues. This is for your financial safety, so that nobody else can pretend to be you and find out any of your financial information.
