Checking the status of your unemployment claim online should be a simple task once you have the right documentation and relevant information.
To check your claim online you will need to go to the state unemployment website that you made the claim on. You will previously have been sent an email with your claim number or perhaps have received it in the post. You will need this number to log on to the site to see the progress of your claim.
You will also have to supply other information aside from this number to check your application. In most cases you will not receive unemployment for up to a week after you have registered. You will also receive no benefit for any weeks previous to registering you were unemployed.
The money you receive for unemployment benefit will usually be sent to the savings or current account that you registered on your form.
If you do not hear from your unemployment for a longer period than this you should contact your local job centre or one stop employment agency. This can be done in person or by phone, check the website for detail of how to contact them.
There are a number of things you should ensure you do or complete before and during your unemployment to ensure your claim is valid. You will probably have to be registered as looking for work before you receive any claims.
Aside from this ensure you fill out the form completely and haven’t exited the page when filling out your form as this may have caused your registration to have been released. You will also need to be over the age of 18 and be also able to provide identification of who you are.
