If you have been just laid off it should start soon after you file and the one week waiting period. If you have been fired (or quit) then it may take anywhere's up to 2 months. Reason being that most employers have a entire department (or hire a service to do the dirty work) so that they can avoid the costs of paying you unemployment.  If they can prove that you were fired or let go do to cause (misconduct...etc) then they don't have to pay. On the other hand if it was due to poor job performance or if you dispute the reason you got fired then it could take a while.  Most states provide for more then ample time for the employer to prove with documentation that you did something bad enough to warrant NOT paying you unemployment..and that takes time.  Even after this lengthly process you are en tilted to a hearing where you can subpoena witnesses etc..to prove you deserve unemployment..the entire process could take 3 or 4 months no matter what the state...hope this helps

Before you can narrow down to how long it takes before you receive any compensation from the unemployment claim filed, your need to ensure that all the ground work is thorough.

Online
1) The law requires a one-week waiting period before you can be paid.

2) Fill out the claim voucher on-line, within one week of filing for your unemployment claim.

3) You need to continue to file your weekly claims online, with Uplink.

4) Visit the Work one center and attend all interview and job search assistance calls.

Personal/Mail
1) The applicable law specifies a one-week waiting period.

2) The following week, you need to complete the mailed voucher and return it to the authorities. You will receive a voucher every week you are unemployed thereafter.

3) You need to continue to file your weekly claims via mail or in person.

4) Attend all interviews and job search assistance calls.

The minimum waiting period is set at one week, after filing the claim. Your Total Benefit Amount or TBA is the total amount of unemployment benefit you are eligible to receive in the benefit year and the calculation commences the moment all the information provided by you is processed and verified.

I filled at the end of february, I have got a few phone calls regarding my employment status because I wasnt fired or laid off, only removed from full time worker to part time, but I havent worked since december, they told me it would be about 4-7 weeks.  They told me I was approved but its going to take long than usual because of my work status.

If you have been wrongful fired will your job try to stop you from getting unemployment, if not how long will it take to receive a voucher.  Will there be service to help you get back on your feet like training or job information.

I filled on march first, I've been waiting since I've claimed my unpaid waiting week and additional week so far. They haven't sent me a denial letter or anything that has to be filled out and mailed back. I'm concerned! Its annoying and frustrating, I have three kids and I am tired of working minimum wage job with reckless schedules. I begin taking college classed in june but for now I need an income desperately
