As with businesses, state government usually runs its finances to a fiscal year. In the US this fiscal year corresponds with the calendar year in roughly 65 per cent of cases. This means that you should usually expect any tax refunds you are due at some point after the end of the fiscal (or financial) year, either in January of February. However it is possible to apply or claim for a tax refund at any point during the year if you feel that you have paid too much or too little tax. In this instance, the Indiana State offers a refund status service on their website that will allow you to look up and check the status of your tax refund claim. To navigate to this page you will need to go to the website www.in.gov as this is the website for Indiana State Government. Once here you will need to click on the 'Information For' tab followed by the 'Individual Taxpayers' or 'Business Taxpayers' tab depending on your query and your tax paying status. Once you are here there is a frequently asked questions list that includes the question 'where is my refund?' you will need to click on this link. Once on this page you will be able to see the search facility for looking up the status of your tax refund. If your claim has not been logged online, or does not exist, there are contact details for the correct department below the link and you will need to get in touch with the Department of Revenue to be able to find the status of your tax refund claim. To be able to check the status online the Department of Revenue will need your social security number along with the exact amount of your tax refund claim.
No clue. I filed in February, and I am STILL waiting on mine. Their site has said they've "received my return, but it's not finished processing yet", and this has been for about 6 weeks now. Best bet is to probably call them (317) 233-4018.
Ok here is the deal if your return is over 1000.00 the off set it till a special agent can look at it and clear it to be released to send! I called the automated line and let it send me to a tax agent and pressed 1 then I pressed 3 and when it said they were to busy I pressed 1 again and it took me back to the automated system and then I just didn't press any buttons and it took me to a tax agent again and I just kept repeating that till finally I got someone and it took me 20 minutes of going thru that to finally talk to someone and they said they did process our return with in 12 weeks but it was being held till a special agent could clear it! This deb said it shouldn't be much longer but still didn't tell me when we would be getting it and it's already been 14 weeks! Good luck to everyone!
I am apparently in the same boat. My forms were filed in mid March and I am still waiting as well. This ticks me off, they didn't hesitate to take my money when my company took out too much from my paycheck and sent it to them. I agree that if this so called "special agent" can't get the job done any faster than this then maybe he, she, they need another job.
I sent mine it on Feb. 6th and still nothing from Indiana.
I am having the same issue. I sent March 25 and I am still waiting and it's May 15th.
I filed late February and I'm still waiting. My girlfriend filed one week before I did and she got hers more than 3 weeks ago.
I filed mine on Feb 3 on line through HR Block and still nothing. On line says received but has not been processed. Can't we send them penalties like they would us?
I filed the first of March, it's now May 26 and still no refund, at least I now know others are having the same problem.
So it isn't just me. That makes me feel a little better. It's June 3, I filed the first week of March. :(
I'm now at 10 weeks after filing my return and still waiting. I filed electronically with the Indiana I-File online system.
By the way, if you try to call the automated number today to check your status, after completing all the requested information on your touch tone phone (SS#, $amt) the system tells you the automated line is not working today, please call back tomorrow!?? Why don't they tell you that before you have to enter all the information.
And if you try to reach a tax examiner to talk to someone, you either get a busy signal or a message that says "we're too busy to talk to you, please call back later".
This is ridiculous.

We filed the 3rd week of March and received our federal refund on April 2nd and still as of today, June 1, nothing from the state of Indiana. I also checked status and it's been received but not yet processed. I agree with the above comment...if we owe them money we would be penalized if we didn't pay in a timely manner. So will they be paying us interest? Ha!
I just called to find out if my state tax has been mailed and of course a automated system comes on and after I entered the required information, I was told that my refund check was mailed on Feb 3, it's only the 6th so I'm not really surprised that I haven't received it yet, but the thing that got me is, when the automated system told me to wait at least 30 days from the day the check was mailed before I call in to check on it. Thirty days????!!! It could take a month for me to receive my state refund??? Where the hell are they mailing it from??
