If you’re quite uncertain as to when you will receive your New York State income tax refund, or simply are curious as to when your reimbursement should be due, you are able to check up on the status of your submission through a secure online platform that’s found on the New York Department of Taxation and Finance website, through this link: www8.nystax.gov/PRIS/prisStart Remember that you will need certain information in order to get access to the progress of your individual tax refund, such as your social security number and the type of file that you processed.

Even though the IRS provides no certainties on when your tax refund would be processed, you do have the chance to find out the approximate dates of when you should be reimbursed. There is one webpage that provides you with projections on when a check would be sent to you, all dependent on when your return was accepted by the IRS, and it can be found here: www.taxslayer.com/support/article.php?id=451

Should you be reading this, but you’re not a New York citizen, you need to consider the fact that the process of checking on the status of your tax return will vary between states. For example, some states do not allow their citizens to verify the progress of a tax return via a secure environment on the Internet. In these circumstances, you will have to ring a dedicated phone number that has been established for all queries. Just like filling out a form on the Internet, you will need all of the information that pertains to your application at hand to guarantee that the automated system will be able to help you.

We had our accountant E-file our return. We got the federal and NYC money we were owed in a timely fashion. We received a letter from the state saying that they needed W2's, paystubs, etc. Because they basically didn't have enough info to give us our return. We are so angry because all of this info is ON THE RETURN DUMMIES!!!! You would think we were waiting for a million dollar refund! Our accountant prepared a letter and RESENT all the info they requested. Well...almost 2 months later and STILL no refund. Accountant is convinced that the state is stalling with all this B.S. Because they don't have the $$ to pay everyone out. So sad. When we owe, we have to pay RIGHT AWAY or face big problems. When they have to pay, they find every excuse not too! This state and this country in general are both going down the tubes real fast!

My wife and I filed on February 7th.  Still have not received anything.  This is totally ridiculous.  When the state wants their money from you, they take whatever they have to take right away.  This is not fair at all.  Does anyone have any idea when we will get our money?  Or, is it truly because New York State is broke and cannot afford to pay out the returns.

I'm also having the same problem. I filed January 27th and have heard nothing.  It says the amount entered is not the correct amount when I go online....  Which I know it is. When I call the 518-457-5149 number it still says in the final stages of processing.  I spoke to someone at the tax department and they told me to go by what the phone says not online as others have had the same problem with there's. How frustrating....

I am in the same situation as all of you. I filed my taxes with a service on January 22nd and I still get the same automated responce that it has been received and will be processed within 30 days and I should check back in a week. I think more than 30 days has past and still nothing. I was told no one could answer any question till after April 16 which is a piece of crock. What the heck is going on? Almost 3 months are you serious!

I got one better, they sent me my tax refund check, I deposited into my bank account and one week later my bank calls and tells me it was "return to sender", in other words they did not release the funds.  Now my bank account is on hold until they take care of this.  I called a number and talked to a tax person and he said, "I don't know why this happened, it cleared."  So now I have direct deposit of my payroll I can't touch.  The bank wont budge and the state insists they are correct.  One big mess......I'd rather be waiting than have no money at all.
