I received my first unemployment check from california EDD for $450, but was expecting $900. Any advice ? Seems I should receive and file EDD California web-cert every two weeks. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. Here is EDD (California) timetable: Example of timetable of how I filed for unemployment EDD benefits online at EDD web-cert (EDD web cert) and received bi-weekly checks. Weekly benefit amount is $450.

The Year is 2010:
Nov 8: Was notified by Company that Nov 19(Friday) would be last day of work
Nov 19(Friday): Filed at EDD site for benefits
Dec 4(Saturday) : Received first continued claim form by mail
Dec 5(Sunday): Filed continued claim form at EDD webcert for 2-weeks
Dec 8(Tuesday): Saw at EDD webcert (EDD web-cert) website, that check was issued Dec 7
Dec 10: Received first above check for $450 (seems that first week of benefits are not provided, its called “waiting period”). I thought I would have received benefits for two weeks, ie Nov 21-Dec4. In effect, I received benefits received only for one week, ie Nov 28-Dec4.
Dec 19(Sunday): Filed continued claim form at EDD webcert (EDD web-cert) for 2-weeks
Dec 22(Tuesday): Saw at EDD webcert (EDD web-cert) website, that check was issued Dec 21
Dec 24: Received first above check for $900. So in effect, I received benefits received for two weeks Dec 5-Dec18.
….
And so on.....
