Yesterday I read that congress passed the bill but the senate was waiting approval on a revised bill.   Now THEY take another break and are scheduled to discuss this extension bill on July 12th! Didn't they take a break the last time they couldn't get all senators to vote? One senator - yes ONE senator would not pass the extension bill.

I agree too that the verbiage on EDD can be confusing but they have answered my emails in regards to my current status. I am just like many worried about how my family and me will survive. I am hoping Californians in the same circumstances will raise their voices. Extensions are needed. If you were to look at the JOB POSTINGS they aren't any new opportunities. Many are just postings filled by internal employees whom are changing spots to stay employed. Many jobs are just temporary positions at lower pay. People need to rally and the media need to hype up this problem before real bad news hits the airwaves. If people can riot for the Lakers winning what about for being down and out.

November 6, 2009, Obama signed another Federal unemployment extension.  This one is for 20 weeks, but they say it is likely that you won't see all 20 weeks, but 13 weeks instead due to funding.

Does anyone understand the 3rd/4th extension.   The EDD site write ups are confusing and contradictive.  My last two weeks will end 2/27/2010 and the last day to file for the 4th extension is 2/28/2010 or 1/27/2010 depending what statement release you are reading.  Now that seems like I would get the 4th extension based on the 2/28/2010 filing date, but the site says all the third extension benefits would have to be used up (what ever that means).  The site states that someone would have to have started the third extension before 11/15/2010, which I am pretty sure mine was not.  I cannot get any answers from them via email 3 times.  Any input would be great,

I am collecting from EDD also but what I know.. There is no 4th Extension in CA EDD.. ,but there is a 3rd Extension called "FED ED Extension (20 weeks approved by the Governor).
On March 27, 2009, the Governor signed legislation that would allow unemployed workers in California to potentially receive up to another 20 weeks of unemployment insurance (UI) benefits. This is an additional extended benefit program known as the FED-ED extension.
FED-ED extensions are now available to potentially eligible claimants who have run out of UI benefits on their regular UI claim, first federal extension and second federal extension. I am attaching the link for the EDD site so in case somebody wants to check it :

Hope this will help....

As of 11/8/09 all states will receive the signed into law bill HR3548. Please go to www.edd.ca.gov for the update as of 11/18/09. No letters have been sent out as of yet to in CALIF. Some states have started. Also, go to www.nelp.org and www.unemployedworkers.org for more correct answer to your questions.

Hope this help. The 4th extension is called Tier 2 of FED-ED, if you read the bill very closely there is a glitch. There is a supporting bill HR3404 that expires 12/27/09 for all USA states. This bill most be signed before the expiration period. For now, states will receive the Tier 2 until and Tier 1 until 12/09.

Again, read over the bills careless for a better understanding and check www.edd.ca.gov that recently posted the same update about when, who and how the extension are to payout

I received my letter from EDD today 11/25/2009. Says been identified as "Potentially Eligible" for the new extensions. The rest is pretty much the same stuff on the EDD web site and still says to do nothing and wait for complex programming to be complete. Says to just monitor their web site for further updates. AT least I've been identified and just have to wait for claim forms or further instructions

I guess were waiting for the senate to approve this bill .I know as a contractor that's out of business and almost out of a home. I wish they would pass a law for solar power to create more jobs.13 weeks just buys time for the inevitable.

Todays Fresno Bee said the Votes vetoed by just a few votes.   No more extensions, Congress cannot get it passed.
