A lot of people think along this same line. Unemployment is on a weekly basis, not a daily basis. This is why you normally cannot collect benefits if you only miss one day. You do not file for that one day but for the entire week. It is based on how much you earn that week. It doesn't matter what day is in the week; you get paid anyway. However, if you are asking whether or not you can collect benefits if you are off for the holiday only and don't get paid for it, that's another thing. But it still goes on what your benefit rate is and how much you earned for that week.
