Yes, and it is now for 14 weeks for all states and another 6 weeks for states with 8.5 % or higher averaging a rolling 3 months. It's in the Senate and they are voting to invoke cloture on Tuesday @ 2:00 PM EST. Cloture will limit debate to 30 hours of actual hours while the Senate is in session. Takes 60 votes for evoking the cloture and then 60 to pass it. There are 60 votes there. It was petitioned for cloture yesterday in the Senate.

The 3rd "FED-ED" extension is currently set to expire on Dec. 31 2009, peoples individual fund allotments might be exhausted before then but the program will be in effect until then as of now. As soon as Congress gets back from recess in September a bill will be introduced to extend the expiration date of the FED-ED program until Dec. 21 1010 and provide a 4th extension to those who have run out of the funds in their first three ( meaning 79 weeks worth of benefits). It is likely this will pass as unemployment is at record levels, if it does and you fulfill all eligibility requirements you will receive up to another 13 weeks of benefits.

Once that happens do you need to file another claim? Its impossible to call the unemployment office its always busy....or does the extension automatic start back up for the additional 13 weeks?
