My boss told the guys from unemployment that he fired me because I was late (really 4 minutes) but to me he told me it was an excuse only and because sales were slow. Am I eligible? Thanks

Only persons who have earned plenty covered wages former to becoming unemployed will have enough take-home pay credits to potentially become licensed for unemployment benefits. It requires a recent history of many weeks of covered employment before an individual qualifies for seeking work benefits. In addition to filing a claim and having sufficient wages in covered employment, eligible individuals must in the main provide the state unemployment agency with information which shows that they are all of the following:

Jobless, or have experienced a substantial reduction in hours of work through no fault of their own
Able to labor
Available for work
Actively in search of work
Willing to accept any fitting work

The weekly unemployment benefit quantity for which a former employee is potentially eligible (the amount of wealth that may be collected weekly by a claimant) is based upon the sum of earnings reported by all employers during this one-year base age. It is usually not important to know which wages will be used by the state to determine fiscal eligibility. However, it is vital to appreciate that it is the employer, and not the member of staff, who pays for the benefits.

If you have worked and have paid into the system and you fall under the guidelines of a good working pattern and have a good reason for the benefit, then you get it.

If you go to work and pay into the fund, you should get it when the company you work for closes or lays you off.  If you quit or no show or blow off at someone or fight, you probably won;t get anything.

It has a lot to do with your work history and if you paid into the fund.

My employer has decided he cannot pay for me to commute 100 miles twice a week, but has asked me to move or be out of a job the end of Sept.  The problem is that my son enrolled at a college just 5 miles from our house so that he didn't have to pay rent the first couple years, and with the housing market down, I don't know if I could sell my house without loosing lots of money.  The other problem is that the city they want me to move to has a much higher cost of living, and I'm barely making it now.  If I don't find another job by Oct. 1, will I qualify for unemployment?

What happens if you accept a job, terminate your unemployment benefits (Unemployment payments in Michigan) which has been collected for approx. 11 months-with extentions and you are fired from the new company after 4 weeks?  Do/can I collect unemployment based on length of employment at previous employer which I worked for several years and was laid off due to company closing site in Michigan.
