Is There A 5th Tier Unemployment?

I agree there should be a tier five, there are a lot of people out there who didn't even get to have 99 weeks. Its about time the American Government started taking care of their own people and stop putting all our tax dollars into other nations, when we need it the most right now.

We need the 5th tier, I just exhausted my 4th.   I'm in the construction field, a drafter.   My husband an electrician was out of work a year, finally found a job at a hatchery, toeing chickens, way out of his field.   I have been out of work since 2/2009.   NO JOBS, cann't get hired at restaurants, fast foot, grocery stores, even Walmart, due to my past employments.   I went back to school in October to get in the medical field, since OBAMA was saying go back to school, retrain.   Well I have and now cann't get out, due to being too far invested and now no more unemployment.   There are   NO jobs, no unemployment, my first time ever on food stamps and no where to turn.   Please, we need the 5th tier.   We are on the verge of losing the house we built. If we do lose the house, our credit will be shot, would not beable to buy another for a while.   We can not refi-the house, due to not enough money, job on the application is only my husband now, so our income is not enough.   Cann't trade our cars, due to income.   SO WHAT DO WE DO!   The only help is extention, extension, extension.   WE ARE NOT LAZY, EMPLOYERS WANT PEOPLE WITH LITTLE WORK HISTORY OR IN THE AREA THEY WORK IN AND THEY ARE PAYING MININUM WAGES, which is fine with me, I just want a job and some income coming in, so I DO NOT LOSE WHAT I HAVE!!!!

Not yet. Right now they have only four tier's. If unemployment stay the way it is, there will probably be a fifth one. The best way to check, is to email a letter to you dept. Of labor in your state and they will tell you what is going on with unemployment. My state keeps me updated. I hoping for a fifth tier too. I have two checks left of my 4th. If it is federal, everyone will get it, if they are out of work.

I had too chuckle watching the news this moning when they said unemployment claims are down. Of course they are, we've exhausted our benefits...it's NOT getting better. It's terrible to be 45 and have to get help from my retired parents to make ends meet. I was a kid during the Carter era recession. I remember the gas lines. As bad as it is, kids, it's only going to get worse with the Gulf issue going into month 3. We're in that ever persecuted middle...not enough income to quite make it & too much for assistance (we don't have kids, thank God). The creditors are ringing the phones off the hook which is ironic since I spent 25 years in credit mgmnt (collections, quality assurance & training) & I can't buy   job (sept will be 3 yrs!!). All I can do is try & keep positive & pray EVERY night that my husband doesn't lose his job too. Then we would lose everything! Tonight I'll say a prayer for all of us. I did get a great piece of advice from GA DOL employee, KEEP CLAIMING! Whatever level you're at. That way when/if they approve another tier either indivually or federally for those of us old timers, the pay will be retro (maybe, unless they change the rules).   7/12/10 (for the guy that says he thinks the string is fake).

As of now there is nothing on the table  this is the time to  flood representatives in washington house and senate with e mails phone calls and faxes demanding tier 5 benefits   they will be shaping legislation for this year soon and if you do not keep contacting them they will not add tiers    do not wait until you are on tier 4 to contact them because everyone on benefits will need these added tiers at some point     if you do not act now  benefits will end

In a state where unemployment is so high and we are barely hanging on,and unable to find a job, we still need help----obviously high unemployment at 11% is a ongoing problem,,,we contributed when we could work, we need help until we find work again---we just want to feed our children and keep a roof over their head--we are surviving on bare minimum as it is---and if we can help other countries in need, it is time to help our own, until they can get back on their feet!

This is also why it is so important to keep reporting to Marvin every two weeks. Congress takes statistics and views where people are on the Unemployment Ladder because of these calls. If you are a "99er" or less, KEEP REPORTING TO MARVIN!

That evil thing called Barrack Hussein Obama knows that there are FOUR MILLION AMERICANS going homeless because they cannot find a job, have run out of the 4th tier extension that he signed into law back on November 6, 2009 (the max weeks allowed was 20 weeks-so everyone on that extension ran out by MARCH), and the ENTIRE SENATE & the President refuse to even acknowledge that these people exist and are in critical need of a 5th tier extension!

But that is part of his over-all plan.

Destroy the US military, destroy the US economy, destroy the Christian principles that this country was founded on, and turn this country into a Socialist country under Sharia Law!!

Everyone gave Bush grief because it took him FIVE DAYS to respond to Katrina. But Obama  hasn't done anything with the Gulf Oil Crisis in over 90 DAYS!! Why? Anything that hurts this country that evil thing is for!!

Wake up America!! I would not be surprised if sometime in 2011 marshall law is installed and no-one will be allowed to vote for another president again!!

Right now if you have exhausted your fourth tier you are done, There is no more. The only thing right now is rumor. Now from what I have read in different places on the internet they have 30 days to come up with something for everyone. Including the long term unemployed. You will just have to ride out the next 30 days the best way you can.

From what I read the senators etc. Are trying to do what is called a COBRA which will cover till the end of 2010 I hope they do because my benefits already ran out I have 2 young children I'm applying for welfare and the cash assist. Doesnt even cover rent thank god for family & friends but still its really embarrassing that id ever have to do both these things but now with kids I don't feel this way when yr a mom it just doesnt matter if you need the help youll do anything its the TRUTH! Unemployment Insurance is crucial and is the lifeline for the long-term unemployed.  Tier 5 is vital and is needed without delay to avoid immediate homelessness for the middle-class. There are NO jobs and we need help! “Overqualified, underqualified” -- this is what I’ve heard over the past year during interviews due to my 4 year college education.

The IRS seized my 2009 tax refund due to outstanding college loans I was unable to pay while on unemployment. Did the IRS expect me to pay $600.00 a month for school loans when I was receiving $1000.00 monthly in unemployment benefits?

Hello,there.. I have a question.. Everybody says 99 weeks of unemployment? How sweet.. Friend of mine just talk to EDD California...Guess,what? Her extention was cut all the time. According to EDD it is   UP TO 99 weeks. Instead of 20 weeks she recieved around 16 weeks. EDD can not explain why,they just claims that nobody get paid a full 99 weeks.So who can blame people that they are short on money? If goverment are talking about 99 weeks than pay to people and maybe tier 5 will be no answer?

No,, there is currently no fifth tier extension in the works from the senate or congress,,,,at all!!! We need to start now, right now,, to get this ball rolling,,, call your senators,congressman, write them, e-mail them daily,, and I mean daily,,, make it your morning ritual,, get your coffee, sit down at your computer and call, e-mail at least 10 senators a day!!! YES a new bill will be added to the Jobs bill for 6 months extension.

There is no 5th tier.  When your 4th tier benefit runs out, so does your unemployment.

COBRA has nothing to do with unemployment extensions; it relates to some type of health care benefits extension.

I am already living in my car.  My 4th extension ran out three weeks ago!  And now I heard yesterday that Obama is spending a lot of money setting up new manufacturing plants in Haiti.

Who knows if there will be, I lost my job February 2008 and I am now on my last extension (4th) and I only got six weeks of benefits.

I did not recieve 99 weeks of unemployment I applied in august 2008 and only recieved 17 weeks eventhough I had more that enough money in quarters hours. I appealed and they did nothing. How come everyone didnt get the 99 weeks

Not that I am aware of.  There should be a Tier 5.
