Of course this depends on your state of residence. In the state of California, you cannot collect both disability and unemployment benefits at the same time. Usually being on fmla means that you are possibly on a medical leave of absence or are caring for an ill or injured spouse or family member. If this is the case, then you should apply for PFL (Paid Family Leave) which will pay you up to 6 weeks to provide this care. You must check eligibility requirements in your state. Now if the reason for fmla is for a personal medical leave of absence, then you should apply for disability benefits( only available in 5 states) contact your local agency for eligibility requirements.
