The problem with unemployment is that you must always be providing information on employers that you have contacted regarding jobs. You can volunteer because you will not be making any money.
I foresee another problem is that I am sure unemployment would wonder if you have enough money to travel oversees that you must not need unemployment benefits. I mean that is what I would be thinking.
