HNB is short for the Hatton National Bank of Sri Lanka, and their website can be found at www.hnb.net. Although it’s somewhat difficult to find, by looking to the centre right of the homepage you will see a little black tab which is called the ‘Virtual Branch’. Once you have accessed this and entered all of your personal information, you’ll be able to check your balance and use all of the functions of your Sri Lankan bank account as normal.
Once you get through to this virtual branch (the direct link is www.hnb.lk/), you will be provided with four options: The branch for individuals, the portal for personal bank accounts which were opened after the 9th of July 2010, and the terminal for corporate accounts which were also launched after this date. There is also the opportunity to visit the corporate section of the HNB’s website for investor-related information. By clicking on the service that fits your bank account, you will then be invited to enter the details that you should have been given upon registering with this financial institution. This includes your online web account number, user ID and password.
If you have forgotten this information, don’t worry, there is an FAQ section where you can read more on how to access your bank details. You may also prefer to ring the local eBanking hotline, which is 0112660520. If you are missing your password, there is also the opportunity to reset it, but you will need to verify your identity through logging into the email address that you would have provided HNB when you first became a customer.
