"Guest" is wrong. California workers DO NOT pay into the unemployment fund. Unemployment Insurance (UI) is paid by employers. UI provides temporary payments to individuals who are unemployed through no fault of their own.

Your State Unemployment Office will pay to her. She doesn't need to be worried about. In case of any query, she should talk to the unemployment office.

Workers in California pay for it; it's deducted from their paychecks. The money goes into a state unemployment insurance fund.

If she was an employee, and not an independent contractor, and you aren't aware of these, you might be hosed when they verify employment with you. Best to establish she was an independent contractor.
