Only if you were working before he/she relocated. You will need to give your employer a letter of resignation stating this is your reason for leaving, additionally you should state in this letter that it is for a higher paying position. Giving your employer notice is important as it will help with winning your claim. Then simply apply for your unemployment in the state you live or if it is to another state, you may pick from the state you just left or the state you just moved to collect the higher benefit of the two states.
