If you are drawing Social Security, every state treats those benefits differently when it comes to how they effect your ability to draw Unemployment Compensation. Some offset your UC benefits dollar for dollar with your Social Security benefits; others don't take it into account at all.

Here's what Massachusetts says, for example: "Do Social Security benefits affect my Unemployment Insurance eligibility and benefits? Receipt of a Social Security retirement benefit will have no effect on your eligibility or reduction in weekly benefits. However, you must be able to work, available for work and looking for work in order to collect unemployment benefits."

Enter (Your State) Unemployment Compensation into your search engine. Get to your state's site and look for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). You should find your answer there.
