Unless you are added to your parents, the majority of credit card companies do not issue any credit cards till you are 18.

To explain why I answered the question about being 18 is I worked for one of the worlds largest credit card companies. To approve someone, we do look at their work history, run their credit, and check out their banking background. Alot of what I call teenagers at the age of only 18, have had steady jobs and a checking and savings account since the age of 16. To get a hotel room, you need to be 21, to rent a car, you have to be 25----at least that is how it is in the state I live in.

Most states require you to be 21 with a job of at least a 24 month tenure a solid financial history & even then often a strong cosigner is required.. It is possible to acquire a credit card at the age of 18 with a parent or guardians signature.
Legally anyone under the age of 18 cannot be held liable in a legal binding contract. Most companies that extend credit prefer their clients to be at least 21 years of age. You will see this happen often with rental car companies.

I have to agree with the above answer. Also, you aren't going to get a card until you have had a steady job for quite some time, not a bunch of different jobs, and you have to show that you are responsible enough to use said account. You can't get the card in other words, unless you prove yourself. Hope this helps, good luck.

Some ages slip through the cracks, but business know they cannot enforce payment of a person who their state says is not yet an adult. The most young ones to receive credit cards is one just entering college. That is a bad spin. I think most states will say a person is considered an adult at the age of 21.

I agree with everyone here sweetie.  by law if you default (don't pay) your credit card bill and no one co-signed for you (making them liable to pay) then the credit card company cannot go after you for payment until you reach the ripe old age of 18.  you cannot enter into any contract until you are 18 yrs. Old and a credit card has to be signed making it a contract for you to pay.  sorry, but it is true!♥
