When a company has a branch that is located abroad and that abroad company is said to be attached with the original company, then this is an international division structure.

The abroad unit is required to control all the activities which are to be performed internationally. It is usually based on the characteristics like a function, product or on geography. This structure is designed do that the multinational will have a free access to explore the resources that are present internationally.

In the International division structure, the abroad branch of the company is the attachment of the parent company. The international unit is responsible for controlling all of the international activities of the company. The division can be based on geography, product or function. There is an international division head which is responsible for controlling all of the activities of these units. This division structure allows the multinational companies to freely explore resources internationally. Whenever there are changes in internal business environment, the companies which have this structure undergo some changes.

Coca Cola has international division structure. A private bank in Latin America, Brazil's Banco Economico SA also follow this structure.
