Can A Business Owner Receive Unemployment Compensation After Selling The Business?

No, they can't if it's as you said, that the person who sold their portion "didn't want to work" for the new owners.  But, if they went and got a job elsewhere and they were fired or laid off, then what happens is, the Employment Security Division has to go back and draw on the former employer if the person is entitled to more than can be drawn from the last employer.  They can draw up to 9 months in this state, but I don't know about Pennsylvania.  If the person was drawing a check, paying in payroll taxes like everyone else, regardless of where he/she worked, then they have the right to draw because they paid their taxes too.  A person normally can not draw unemployment for quitting a job.  Only under certain circumstances like intolerable treatment or sexual harrassment; something of extreme nature.  That's the biggest question???  And the second would be, why work someplace 7 months and not be able to draw from them?  It seems like some information is missing so it's really difficult to give a Yes or NO answer.  It's all conditional.
