It can be different, but as a rule it should be approx 6 weeks or so and it will be retroactive from the time you filed. Hang in there, it's on it's way!! Zachary777

The Gov will let you know by mail what your monthly amount will be for disability and when you will get your first check. The money is automatically deposited in your checking or savings account.I takes 5 months to be approved and once it is approved, it may be months before you get the first amount deposited. Yes, after 24 months you qualify for medicare and if you refuse to take advantage of it, you will pay a penalty for it the rest of your life. The amount right now is $96.40 for part B, Part is free. Part B is to increase in Jan. 2010. You must also, purchase a RX plan from an insurance company to help with your medicines.

You should start to receive your money around the first of the month if you just got approved it may take a couple months to get your back and your first check. Keep in mind that when you receive your back pay S.S will include the following months check to give them time to process the rest of your claim.

You will receive a letter or phone call from the Social Security office to inform you when you are going to receive your first check. Since all monies are directly deposited in a bank acct for you now, you will be told which day of the week and which week of the month your money will be in your acct. For example...Tues of the second week of the month. It will never change.

It depends on if it is a private company or the SSI check. Usually if it is a company disability, it would come from thier insurance company. Most companies who carry thier insurance thru some insurers let the company handle the payouts Sometimes it takes awhile for the checks to arrive.
