The word grant is used to refer to any type of monetary aid. It is also defined as the act of providing a subsidy. To grant is a verb which is defined as to allow or to let (someone) have (something).

To grant, when used as a verb, also means to award. In other words, the word to grant is defined as to give (someone something) as is judged as due or on the basis of its merit. In law, the term grant is defined as a transfer of property by deed of conveyance.

Grant is the last name of the 18th president of the United States of America, Ulysses S. Grant, who was the commander of the Union armies during the American Civil War. He was born in the year 1822 and died at the age of 63 in the year 1885. It was also the last name of the British-born American film actor Cary Grant, who was born in the year 1904 and died at the age of 82 in the year 1986.
