I was receiving unemployment benefits last year when I found a job.  The job was 40 miles outside the city limit.  I got about  2 weeks of unemployment checks to tie me over till I got my first check from my employer.  Now I am laid off again.  Does anyone know what the penalty is if I reapply for unemployment and they see that overlap?

Georgia has passed the bill entitled hous bill 581 to extend unemployment benefits waiting for Governor Perdue to sign or he does not have to sign and it  and it will become law if he does not sign within a certain time.  We are waiting for when Labor Commissioner Thurmond decides that they can handle the necessary program by May 25th which is a long time because I have exhausted my second-tier and do not know what to do but pray that it is soon.  You may also read this at www.legis.ga.gov/legis/2009_10/sum/hb581.htm  I know this has helped me to understand and now just waiting and praying.  Good Luck!1

I have been waiting for this bill garbage to go through since 3/3/10 I went to the field office  did their little SEB claim. Today, after 4 weeks of calling I finally got a lady on the phone. She told me that I was not signed up for SEB but to certify still.  On my computer when I pull up the SEB application it say that my file is being processed yet the lady at the office says I am not on record. Is anyone else going through this. Just wondering.
