The address for sending your check depends on what part of the country you live in. Please see below to match the state you live in with the appropriate address:
Those living in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah or Wyoming should send their payment to Internal Revenue Service Center, Austin, TX 73301-0010.
If you live in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, or Tennessee you will send your payment to Internal Revenue Service Center, Atlanta, GA 39901-0010.
Residents in Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington will send a payment to Internal Revenue Service Center, Fresno, CA 93888-0010.
Finally if you live in Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia or Wisconsin you will send your payment to Internal Revenue Service Center, Kansas City, MO 64999-0010.
Check payments to the IRS will need to be made out to the U.S. Treasury. They will not accept payments made out to the IRS. To ensure your payment to the U.S. Treasury is correct, make sure you take your time to write the check out accurately and without error.
In order to process your payment successfully, the IRS requires certain information from you included on the payment check. All taxpayers should include their correct name, address and Social Security Number that can be located on the tax form. You must also include a daytime phone number, the tax year the payment is for and finally the form that the taxpayer has filed.
If sending a check isn’t the route you would like to take, there are also many other payment methods available.
