A committee is similar in structure to a jury, in that both are groups of people who reach a decision by voting. However, a committee may continue to work together over a period of time and in many situations, while a jury is brought together only for one purpose. Also, each member of a committee is typically elected by their peers and have to be re-elected periodically, which keeps them accountable.
