How do rich people get rich?

The rich get that way by using money as a tool to grow more capital, to put it to work for future gain. Reinvestment and prudent use of assets, talents or events to longterm advantage.

The rich manage money, the poor don't, or can't. 

Long story short, don't spend money you don't have on material possessions you don't need, or causes that provide no return. 

I knew a man who started with very little and became wealthy. He told me how.

He worked as a buyer for a large company and, at night, worked as a drink waiter.. Everything he earned, over his living expenses, he invested with a lawyer in what we call "second mortgages" in Australia but "sub prime mortgages" in the US.

As his capital built up he switched to prime mortgages (for the added security) and after a few years the lawyer absconded with his money leaving him holding title to lots of worthless land.

Then a land boom hit in his area and he came out in front.

So there's your formula: Hard work, long hours, thrift, investment, risk, and good luck.

Well, if you're an American citizen living in America you're already ahead of the game. Getting rich is only a matter of how you use your time. The good news is that there are so many successful people in America, you have wide variety of blueprints to follow. Or you can always follow the footsteps of unsuccessful people and live a meager life. There's always a choice. Everything entirely depends on you and what you do with your time. Your work ethic. Your choices.

There are so many ways to get rich. So many strategies.  I grew up on food stamps, so having a trust fund would be helpful but not really necessarily needed in the long run. The most easiest, safest, most laid-out path is  just to go to school. http://www.bls.gov/ Plug in your major, look at outlook and pay. College Ranking search for the rankings of college you want to go to and the ranking for your major. Fresh CS graduates with high GPAs from top tier programs are getting 120k starting salary and 250k+ in stock options at my compnay. So that's already half a million in 2 years when you can cash out the stocks.

Have a well thought out idea that you spent a good amount of your time researching and developing into a business plan? Using completely FREE resources called Google and library books? Every worthwhile city has business incubators. The US also has one of the highest amount of Venture Capital in the entire world. Elon Musk used to split hot dogs in half so they'll feed him longer while living in a garage before he convinced someone to invest in his idea.

Don't like school? Don't like the responsibility of running a physical business? Make high quality sites that attract traffic and put adds. Start a drop-shipping website; you just sit back while other businesses conduct their sales through your site. Write reviews for products and get into their companies market affiliation programs. You can learn CSS and HTML for FREE on the internet or at the library.

Make a mobile application for IOS and Android. One is free the other is just $250 for a license. 

This is barely a drop of water in the sea of how you can get rich. People are poor because they decided to be poor.

I knew a few trust fund babies they call them. They get a bunch of money when they turn 18or21. Well these clowns are in prison. Their trust fund money they got they spent on drugs booze the fast life

Luck.

Easy peasy ! Their born into it .. Or they marry into it ... Or they earn it .... Easy peasy but I'm still  living the middle class dream :/ I'm ready to  be rich any day now  !!! Oh or win the lotto. I guess I'll probably just stay financially comfortable then. Cos I definitely wasn't born into it .. And I have a huge issue with commitment so if I won't marry for love I won't marry for money .. And I'm earning my way in life but I'm never gonna be rich in my career ... COME ON LOTTO !

As for me, nowadays, the secret of richness is hidden in good internet-marketing strategy. 

Some get lucky, some inherit it. Most work hard, live below their means, and invest well.
