It depends if the teenager is a boy or girl. I put $25 a week from my acct to hers. She has had a debit card since she was 11 and now she just turned 16 three months ago. She is very bright and responsible so i let her do basically what she wants. I dont require her to do many chores because my mom made me a slave growing up and I refuse to do that to my daughter. I am NOT a queen and she does not have to treat me as such. She does things around the house because she knows that she should help. I dont have to bang her over the head.
I recently gave her a credit card so that she can fill up her gas tank and eat after school. She has always used her debit card to buy her clothes etc....and I just filter the money over as I see the account getting low.
She has NEVER abused this and she puts her own xmas, bday money in there, too.
Basically, if u teach a child responsibility and teach them about the economy and keep NO secrets about income, etc, ur child will listen and learn. The problem is MOST parents do not do this and the child never learns from the Masters. Then they go out and make financial mistake one after another.

Well as for me i am more interested in the grades my children get in school. I dont give out a certain amount for certain grades or chores but if they need money to spend or go & do then its theirs as long as its appreciated & the hard work in studies stays the same.

That's a discussion between the parent & the teen.I can't really say.  As for me, I did chores to earn my allowance per week.

OMG, what a question to ask.  I would have no idea, the only thing I can offer is that back in the late 40's and early 50s I got 50 cents a week and believe me that had to work cause a movie and candy was 30 cents alone.

In our household, the teens were always expected to do work for their money, and paid the going rate for chores. They were consulted on purchases that involved them, such as clothes, and given some say in other household expenses. They were paid for each A and B on their report cards.

I don't get an allowance..
For the chores I do, I never get payed.
Our family never liked the system of us being payed when we did work ..
My parents think that the idea of their own children thinking they should
get payed when they do work.. Work amongst your family should be free and with love.

I agree with my parents thinking, but obviously this has no offense to anyone
who doesn't follow the thinking.
But anyways you didn't ask about chore payment.. Sorry for getting off topic.

But yeah, my answer would be,
.. 10 dollars a month maybe?

:D thank you for the question

According to the wealth of the parent and the age of the child....I will say $25 a week for a teenager...

I think it would depend on how many chores that the kid is doing...and then it should be based off of that, or simply let the teen get a job.
