The routing number relates to one of America’s largest banks, namely the Bank of America. This large organisation is an American global financial services company and is in fact the largest bank holding company in the entire United States, by assets.
It is also the second biggest bank in the whole of the US by market capitalization. Bank of America has a wealth of clients across the globe in more than 150 countries and has a relationship with a staggering 99 per cent of the 500 companies that belong to the Fortune 500 Group.
The Bank of America also belongs to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; otherwise known as the FDIC. It is a major component of both the S&P 500 Index and the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
By 2010, the Bank of America had developed so much that it became the fifth largest company in the United States, based on total revenue.
It is the second biggest non-oil company in the US after the Wal-Mart Corporation and in the same year, Forbes Magazine listed Bank of America as the third "best" large global company.
In 2008 it acquired Merrill Lynch, which made Bank of America the world's biggest wealth manager and a significant player in the investment banking sector.
The Bank of America actually holds 12.2% of all US deposits, and is one of the major Power Four banks of the United States. These include Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo, which are its main competitors. The company caters for approximately 57 million consumer and small business relationships stretched across almost 6,000 banking centres and 18,000 ATM machines.
