In order to obtain the balance of an account from the State Bank of India, it is first necessary to hold an account with them. After that it is pretty much straight forward, from there on in you are able to access your account balance using the same methods you would with any other bank.
State Bank of India Branch
So long as you have your bank account details to hand, you can enter any branch and ask for a balance on your account. Although in the case of any unforeseen circumstances, it may be prudent to take with you some forms of personal identification.
Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
If you are in possession of a bank card then it may be possible to view your bank balance on an ATM. All that is needed is the personal identification number (PIN) that was either issued with the card initially or the one you have subsequently changed it to.
Contact Centre
It is possible to attain a balance of your account, as well as many other telephone banking services by calling the Bank's contact centre. If calling from Mumbai or Navi Mumbai, use the telephone number 9987552211. If calling from elsewhere in India use either 1800112211 or 18004253800. The telephone lines are open around the clock. Internet Banking
All the normal services, including balance enquiries, are available through State Bank of India's online banking website: Www.onlinebsi.com. A separate section for their visually challenged customers is available at www.onlinebsi.com/bsivc although it is necessary to have screen reading software pre-installed. For security purposes it is also advisable to wear headphones while accessing the account.
Mobile Banking
State Bank of India provides Mobile Banking services using WAP, SMS and USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data). More details on how to install and activate this service are also available via the online banking website.
