If you work in MO, then you shouldn't be filing for unemployment at all. Regardless of where you live. But, let's assume that you meant to say that you lost your job in MO or you used to work in MO, the answer is that it doesn't matter what state you used be employed in, you file for unemployment in the state that you reside in. If you have ever looked at your pay stub, you will notice some things on there for IL. Example: I used to live in the county but I had a job in the city. Guess what? I still had to pay city taxes and such because I was employed there.

I am not sure what "overyander" does for a living, but I hope SHE isn't in charge of a company, or anything close to Human Resources within that company. First of all, it's "yonder", not "yander". Secondly, she shouldn't have talked to you as if you were an idiot. Especially since her answer was 100% WRONG. If you work for a company located in Missouri, AND you physically commute to Missouri to work for that employer, then that employer pays state unemployment benefits on your behalf. Cont'd

(cont'd) Why? Because if you ever got laid off from that employer, you would file for Unemployment in Missouri, EVEN if you live in Illinois. Again, that's assuming you physically work in Missouri. Furthermore, if this is the case, you will NOT see anything on your pay stub for Illinois. Again, one must be an idiot to say that to you. Hopefully, this answers your questions. Too many underqualified FEMINISTS employed these days. THAT'S what's wrong with the economy. Let's offset the BIAS!
