A question that will always turn up in a job interview is "tell me about yourself". This can sometimes confuse people, as it is such an open ended question and can refer to a number of things. The most important thing you need to remember is that in order to impress an interviewer through this question, you should talk about all aspects of yourself that relate to the job you are being interviewed for. And remember it is vital you only talk about positive aspects as opposed to struggles you may have experienced previously. It is vital that you prepare for this question but do not rehearse the answer because it won't sound genuine to your potential employer. Make sure you research the company and relate any of your previous experiences to the work they carry out. Moreover, you should talk about your career passions, what you're capable of, what skills you have and your work ethic. In addition, it is imperative that if you are going for your first job, you should talk about your educational experiences and how they have prepared you for work. Aspects such as meeting deadlines and learning skills including the ability to research should be mentioned. If you have done any part-time work you should mention this and explain the skills and attributes you gained from it, as well as talk about any volunteer or charity work you've done. This question presents the best opportunity for you to sell yourself. You should explain to your interviewer why you think you are the best person for the job; however you must not talk for too long and go over the top because you may come across as big headed and arrogant.

I'm sorry, but all these answers are wrong. Having been a head-hunter for over 10-years, I will tell you that there is only one answer to this trick question personnel people ask. The answer is: 'What would you like to know?' In this way, they must be specific. I say it's a trick question because they use it to see if, (1) you can keep your cool under pressure; and, (2) whether you're the kind of employee that can get, and stay, focused on the project-at-hand. If you begin to answer such a broad-ranged, open-ended question, they will know that, (1) you're flustered; and, (2) you don't know how to make the other person get down to brass-tacks, i.e. Specifics. Time is money. When at work, no one has time to blather on about this, that, and the other. You've got to know specifically what you're dealing with, what the expectations are, and how to stay focused to get the outcomes desired by management. Answering back with, 'What would you like to know?', gets the conversation moving along specifics in a hurry. Personnel people, and management, are looking for just such an employee... One that 'gets down to business'.

Iam a 23 year old christian lady who loves to work ard to put enthusiasm in everything I do. I am open minded and easy to work with. I have done Diploma and Certificate in Computer Engineering and Electronics and I got a Credit pass, I also did Cisco Certification and A+ Certification and got a Distinction. I love setting goals which I try as much as I can and achieve them by the end of the day. I love charity work in my free time and also love to research as much as I can about new things. I never give easily and am very good at what I do.
If they ask you this in quite an open-ended way, with no special context, it's safest to assume that they want to know about your work and study history more than your hobbies or the kind of person you are (though you should also spend time before the interview deciding what you could say about these). In any case, your personality will emerge from the way you talk and the kinds of things you've done in your life.
It's a good idea to practise giving a little potted autobiography - mainly your school and college achienevements, the main jobs you've done (especially, responsibilities you've had) and anything outstanding you may have done like an award or a big charitable activity. Practise on a friend to make sure you sound quite lively and intersting, but believable too. Then you can "edit" your history as needed - eg if the interviewer asks specifically about your education history, you give that part of your talk.
most important is not to waffle but to speak to the point.
You it's good to know how to face an interview and to tell about yourself. Although it may be asked to tell about yourself in 2 minutes or 3 minutes or 4mins or like that. So accordingly we have to prepare how to tell and represent about yourself that an interviewer wont able to get any wrong from you. There are many options that how you represent how to tell about yourself.it all depends upon you. Remember the interviewer shouldn't get any negative point about you. Do prep for how to tell about yourself before facing any interview.all d best.do well.....best wishes..

They will already have read your application form and have some ideas about your age, qualifications, employment history and perhaps your hobbies. What they want is to assess what sort of person you appear to be and what sort of interests you have, also can you cope with the questions face to face?
Try to feel relaxed, although this isn't easy at an interview especially if you are nervous. Tell them about any interests and hobbies you have, past work experiences you've enjoyed or excelled at. If this is an interview for your first job you could say how you your interests etc have made you realise that this type of job would be right for you. Don't give too much personal information and don't tell them about your family except in very general terms if it's relevent to do so. Don't ramble on, be short and to the point unless they ask you to expand on something you've said.
