If you don't have a receipt, or you didn't copy the the serial number down...there is NO way to trace it.
Always always keep receipts !!!!!! I can't urge that enough, people, hold on to your paper work, even after the transaction has been completed! ( I keep receipts for 3 years on important transactions.) Tax returns, keep your paper work for 7 years also.

Call Western Union 1-800-999-9660-- press one for English and then wait for all the prompts to repeat and eventually a rep will come on the line. My guess would be that you write it the way it was made out and then correctly underneath; however, that is if there's a misspelling.
