You can obtain a Medicaid account number by applying for a Medicaid account. This is a quick process that can be completed in a relatively short time.

Firstly you need to determine if you are eligible for Medicare. There are two ways of doing this, either go to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website to access the agency's Medicare Eligibility Tool and answer the eligibility questionnaire or you can visit your local Social Security office or call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213.

Make sure you apply at least three months before your 65th birthday. If you wait until you are 65, your Medicare coverage will be delayed because of processing time. You should receive your Medicare card in the mail about three months before your birthday. The card will provide more information about the process.

You then must provide all required information to the service representative. You may be asked for copies of your birth certificate, Social Security card, proof of other medical insurance and driver's license. If you do not have one or more of these items, inform the representative and he will tell you what to do. If you are applying because of disability, you will be asked to provide the names and addresses of all the doctors who have treated you.

You must also provide a copy of your most recent pay stubs or unemployment benefits documentation. In each state, you must meet a minimum-income threshold to qualify for Medicaid.
