If you know who held the funds contact that company. Otherwise if you have changed employer's this money should have been distributed to you by a rollover to an account of your choice. If this did not happen contact you former employer and ask them the name of the company that managed the fund. Otherwise you may try a search at a locater such as Missing Money.com to see if the funds are listed. You simply do a search on you name and it should show you if there is any funds held in your name.

401(k) is a type of retirement plan in several countries including the United States. It is an employer-sponsored plan which allows for deferring of income taxes on the saved money and earnings until withdrawal. Now I do not get your question. What do you want to know have you lost the document regarding this plan or have you lost track of how much is your 401 (k). If it is the loss of documents then you should immediately get in touch with the concerned authorities and do the needful to avoid further problems. A complaint lodged at the police station may help you to get back your lost documents.

But in case you have lost track of your 401k then you can find out about that through Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp, searching prior account statements, contacting the current plan administrator, checking up with the State Treasurer's office, visiting your local library and other methods.

I worked for a company that had a 401k plan. I am 61 years old. I would like to find out about my 401k. How do I go about getting my money from my 401k plan. I don't know the exact year, but I do know the company that I worked for.
