I was married for 42 years and my husband filed for divorce. I had no where else to go but our home of 38 years. I took over all of the bills. His and the joint bills that we had. Can I file for Head of Household?
If you are not married, or if no one else is claiming you on their taxes yes.
In order to file as HH, you have to have a 'qualifying' person, ie a child, parent, or a qualifying relative other than your father/mother such as a grandparent, brother, or sister who meets certain other tests.
