In Australia the prize goes to an electrical retailer called Harvey Norman. I returned a defective product and the kid assumed, because i was old, I didn't know much about technology. He finally agreed to the exchange, gave me a new one, then said, "Do you need the box?" Then he placed the defective unit in the new box and put it on display to sell to the next sucker. That was in 1993 and I haven't been back.
But one of the all time successful protests was from Canadian singer, Dave Carrol, whose guitar was damaged by United Airlines. After months trying to get them to meet the repair costs he wrote a song about it, and it went viral. United's shares dropped, they paid him compensation, and Taylor Guitars gave him a new guitar for all the good publicity they received.
