Yeah ofcourse it would be hard but they people need to improve.... Its better to write some thing supportive in the end so that the pesrson dosent getz depresd..... It is disappointing!!!!
I interviewed 6 people in the past week for one position in my little company, all were good (one had an MBA). Is there anything more depressing than sending our the "Sorry, you didn't get the job" letters? - Receiving one I guess.....
Here in INDIA many company's said to rejected candidate verbally that "we will call you if you are selected" in this way candidate found that s/he was rejected...they have to do better performance for selecting in the company again...
But you are the owner of a company so if you provide them a letters about sorry..... I think its your kind and supporting nature towards the candidate.

If you find that depressing Ray then it says a lot about you ,mainly that you are a caring person. You care for others feelings. I applaud you.
