I'm the founder and President of Hawkeye Management. These claims are simply not true. We are a 10 year old company with an A+ Better Business Bureau rating and we do not require any up front fees so the basis of this claim is completely false. We do have a pre-qualification process that does require a credit check that has a minimal cost but that's not a fee that is paid to us and it's designed to not create a hard inquiry that could hurt someone's credit. Additionally, we will only see the credit profile and initially we will not have sensitive personal information such as social security numbers, dob, etc.
As for Mr. John Smith, we have several "John's" and several "Smith's" in our database but we only have one "John Smith" in our database from our several years of being in business so I can only assume that these comments must be from him. I will not speak to any of the issues (good or bad) about his credit profile but I can assure anyone reading this that we never collected a single dollar from Mr. Smith. He did complete our pre-qualification form but he never paid us anything and we never collected any fees from him. Mr. Smith may be disappointed that we couldn't help him (for reasons I won't get into) but that's no basis for making claims like this that simply are not true.
Once again, we do not charge any up-front fees. AFTER someone becomes a client of ours we do keep a credit card on file. This is common in business and if you know anything about your protections you have when paying with a credit card then you'll know that this is by far your safest way to pay any company. Any business relationship requires an element of trust so, while we've never charged someone in any way that's inconsistent with our agreement with them, it's never a good idea to work with any company if you don't think you can trust them. We would never charge anybody for a fee just because we want to or feel like it. We've been doing this a long time and plan on helping a lot more small business owners in the future so we're not going to do anything that would be unethical or that would hurt our ability to continue to accept credit cards, grow relationships, or anything else that would hurt our ability to continue to build our business.
We realize that we can't help everyone and we wish we could. If you are a small business owner who has any questions about your credit or borrowing options then we're available to be a resource for you and we'll help you understand your options without any up-front fees and you'll only pay us a fee if we're successful in getting you the funding you need. Sometimes we earn our fees from our clients and sometimes our fees are paid to us by the lenders. Thanks for allowing us to respond to these false claims.
