It is hard to say what is the best, but the Net Present Value reflect what the investments worth is today. This gives you a good basis for projection of growth, income and related issues that affect the purchase of an investment. There is also other ratio's and factor's such as the P/E ratio which reflects the Price to Earnings and other similar analysis tools.
