The Selkirk Index sets forth the wholesale price of propane on a periodic basis. The index itself is proprietary and you must therefore be a subscriber to the service in order to know what the propane dollar values are that appear on the index. Propane retailers subscribe to the service, using the index as a guide to setting their prices. You must therefore contact the propane retailer company involved to know what the Selkirk Index has for a value on any given day. This is not the best solution for those impacted on their propane purchases by the index but have no way to verify what is told to them by a subscriber to the index. Typical contracts with propane suppliers will set forth the delivered price of propane as ie. "Selkirk Index price plus 50 cents per gallon less a small discount for prompt payment". The 50 cents in this example would cover administration and profit values for the retailer.
