What Are The Rights And Responsibilities Of A Guarantor For Tenancy?

My tenants have not paid for months now. I already have a hearing to deal with this matter. I also want to send a letter to the guarantor because I know the tenants would not be able to pay. Is this ok? What would I include in the letter to the guarantor. Can you help me?
