Go to the Travelers web site and use the "Find an Agent" link to find an agent in your area. The reason I suggest them is that my wife's business is insured by them and they were pretty easy to work with and their rates were pretty good.
The questions you need to be prepared to answer are ones like: How much do you have invested in your equipment, are you and your staff certified and licensed (if applicable), how long have you been in this business, what is your accident history, have you ever been sued, how much would it cost to replace something that one of your men might destroy in the course of business, etc.
If the insurance is too expensive (sometimes it is) then you should talk to an attorney about setting up multiple companies to insulate you from risk, e.g. Your business name is "Fred's Welding, Inc", but your equipment, trucks, buildings, etc is owned by an invisible corporation called "Fred's Welding Equipment, Inc" and leased back to "Fred's Welding, Inc". That way if you looses a law suit the only thing they can take from the company is any debts owed to "Fred's Welding, Inc".
