Do You Get Unemployment Money If You Were Fired?

I just was let go from my job in Michigan due to not meeting the sales goals even if I was number one sales person as volume in the store. When I filed the unemployment I put fired instead laid off. Other of my two coworkers who were let go for the same reason put down laid off and they start collecting unemployment immediately while they told me that my claim is going to be reviewed.
What should I expect? Is that possible that they will deny me only because I put fired instead laid off?

Yes but there is a longer waiting period of about 1 week

It depends on the circumstances that you were fired. It might be that you need to wait out a time period, or that you might not get it at all. The best thing that you can do is call and talk with them, or go and see them. Hope this helps.
