Getting better every day. After 59 surgeries, the flesh eating virus is gone, the skin graphs are done. And after over 7 months in the hospital things are looking up. The virus darn near killed me. Went sepsis, the only things that were still functioning in my body was my brain, heart, and lungs. Everything else shut down waiting to die. I had a heart attack on the flight for life but God wasn’t ready for me to come home! Praise be to God, I’m still here, on the mend, and not counting the 15” square inches of skin and meat they cut off my leg i’m Almost as good a i was before!

I had three surgeons that said they were just going to cut my leg off. The last one even noted the possibility on my surgery release paperwork. He said it would be a lot easier on him than having to cut everything away from the muscle. Told him very plainly that “I was a cop for over 35 years, if I came to and my left leg was gone I would show him cop gang signs, two in the chest, one in the head!” Must have gave him incentive, woke up with my leg! He is a great surgeon, and I can appreciate a dark sense of humor, but the pompous ass lacks the common sense of when to share his dark thoughts!
