There are number of ways you can do it some I can suggest you right here but for the better understanding, you need to your efforts learning them. Basic terms to promote your website:-

1. SEO techniques (IMPORTANT)

2. Social media marketing

3. PPC (Pay Per Click)

4. SEM (Search Engine Marketing) etc.

Just remember one thing "Content is the king" and to make it globally best, just think about the ways how Google think to make it's website user-friendly and the best search engine in the world, think like Google, work best on it and there you go.

1. List your website in online directories, which are often separated into categories. Find the category that is most closely related to your business or industry. Choose the group and click on the "add site" or "submit a site" link, and complete the information form for the directory. This typically includes your business name, your website URL address and a short description of your website.

2. Join online communities your target audience frequents.

When you find a community, add your business information, which should include the link to your website. Involvement in online communities where your potential customers congregate helps market your business website.

3. Use social networking sites to promote your business by joining various groups and adding your business information and URL to your profiles on these sites. Use the social networking update feature to publicize your business, new products or services, sales, coupon and special promotions. Always include a link to your site for potential customers to obtain more information.

4. Add a subscription box to your website to collect visitor names and email addresses. As you build your subscriber list, send promotional emails with information on new products or services, price changes, sales, coupons and other promotional information. You should also include your current and past customers in all mailings.

5. Add “Forward to Friend” option in all electronic promotions. Encourage email subscribers and recipients to share your business promotions with people they know by including the "forward" option with any electronic promotions you send out.

6. Write blog posts. Two to three times per week, post an article, tip or advice that relates to your business or industry on a business blog that is linked to your small business website. Blogging can help your website rank higher in search engines and when regularly updated can attract visitors back to your blog and website to read the updates.

7. Include the website address to your small business site on all of your online and offline marketing materials. This may include your business cards, brochures, sales sheets, coupons, email signature and any other information that reaches potential customers and referral sources for your business.
