Small. I've been using a credit union since the 1960s. Service is better, fees are lighter.
The interest is lousy, though, so I use a large bank for my "rainy day" account.
Small bank. Headquarters are about 25-30 miles from me. Customer service is excellent. I get a call if anything "Looks" suspicious on account and any mistakes or errors are immediately corrected. Calls are returned within 4 hours. They all know my name and their glad I came. 😄
Dear Zack,
I have had really good experiences with both small and large. I was with Wells Fargo for a couple of years, for example, and they did an outstanding job for me, as did Washington Mutual.
I try to go with the small banks, however, conservative fiscal approach, not buying into the wild derivatives and such that ran the economy off the cliff in 2008.
I am now with an Iowa bank that has been around small for a century... again customer service excellent, resolving all the banking issues while I was homeless... even though I may never live in Iowa again, I will stay with them as long as I can.
I use a credit union for my every day banking. My business accounts are in a large world bank.
A small bank for sure ! I'll never use a Wells Fargo or one of those again. On the rare times I go in this bank they treat me like a real person and not just another number.
Depends on WHAT you are using them for. I have found that Credit unions give the best interest rate when purchasing a used car.
Bigger banks give better home refinancing . . . Hey, I married and accountant so we dabble in both . . . No need to have all your eggs in one proverbial basket.
