The official manufacturer for the Amazon Fire Phone is Amazon, as its name suggests.
However, as usual with these things, Amazon had a little help.
They brought in FIH Mobile to help them create the device. The Hong Kong listed company assembled the Fire Phone and also helped design the Amazon Smartphone's unique 3D technology.
The phone starts with Android and adds a lot more as it has it's own operating system, although Android users should feel comfortable with it and be able to get the apps that they are used to.
Another feature that could be very useful, especially to people new to smartphones, is the Mayday feature which we first saw in the Kindle Fire HDX tablet. It certainly saved my dad a few phone calls when he can't remember how to send a text message!
