If Jamie has five dollars and purchases a soda for one dollar and fifteen cents, how much change does Jamie get back?

This Math question is quite easy to do.

Jamie has 5 dollars - and he wants to buy a soda which costs one dollar and 15 cents.

First we take the one dollar away from the 5...

5-1=4

Now he has 4 dollars left - but he still has to take away another 15 cents!

So we change one of his 4 dollars into cents...

1 dollar = 100 cents

Now he has 3 whole dollars and 100 cents

and then we take away the 15 cents from the 100 cents...

100-15=85

Now the change Jamie is left with is 3 dollars and 85 cents!

Lets hope he enjoys his soda!
