No I do not agree with it! The reason is that both of these concepts are very important for the production design strategy. I will like to quote it with an example, that if a company comes up with a very efficient product because of the layout of the product and if the product gets successful in the market at a certain price. In such a case if process layout is not efficient then company may incur huge costs, which will create internal operational problems in the company.
Product layout is important from the customers' perspective while the process layout is important to maintain the low cost advantage and operational efficiency of the company.Moreover, the process layout may increase the efficiency, decrease the time period to complete one cycle of the product, and reduce the cost. Therefore, product layout can be made better through process layout.
