A finance director is one of the senior most manager who is in charge of all the financial activities of an organisation. All kinds of finance related decision within the company which includes any kind of investment, financing and dividend policy and even handling financial risk, is carried out by him. The treasurer generally reports to the finance director.

He is also known as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company. In fact it is only in the United Kingdom that he is referred to as a financial director. He may also be commonly known as the Chartered Accountant or a Chartered Certified Accountant. In small time agencies generally part time finance directors are hired.
